I saw the movie a long time ago. It is nothing like the actual book. I own the German, Dutch and English versions of this item (book that is) and am still looking for the movie. As intense as the book is, the movie displays the whole story with a funny undertone. Some might not like this, since the story is based on the actual life of a certain individual. It is one of the top movies coming from the German/French production houses that were active in the early 60's, and it is a must have for any movie collector.
Again, it is nothing like the book. But still, an extremely good story.
