On the sheriff's office bulletin board, a wanted poster for legendary real-life outlaw Black Bart can be clearly seen. The primary antagonist of "The Tin Star" is named Bart Bogardus, and he wears solid black throughout the film.
Anthony Perkins went on to play an unrelated character named Bogardus, his nemesis in this film, in The Fool Killer (1965).
