The film begins with commandant Carlos López (Conrado San Martín) about to be decorated due to a succesful mission , then he renounced the honor of the decoration in order to go to Africa to be a missionary . From now on , a long flashback unfolds while explaining his previous life to missionary father (Ramón Martori) who accompanies him : Two brothers are separated, one remaining in Spain and later entering the Army, while the other is sent to Russia . Once grown-ups , at the end of the Civil War, Teniente Carlos López Doria becomes part of the information services and the other turns a communist agent called Alexander Duniev (Eduardo de la Cueva) . When the Spanish Civil war breaks out they will unexpectedly reunite as the evacuated one is sent back to Spain to sabotage a dam in Morocco . In his new assignment, Carlos must neutralize the Soviet agents (Gérard Tichy , Luis Induni , Eduardo de la Cueva, Vira Silenti) who intend to carry out sabotage in a dam that the Spanish government is building in Morocco . Carlos is unaware that one of them is his own brother, evacuated to Odessa during the Spanish civil war (1936-1939) .
Film adaptation based on the radio play , a Spanish serial by Luisa Alberca and Guillermo Sautier Casaseca and scripted by the director himself and by prolific José Antonio de la Loma , who is getting closer to starting his career as a director. This ¨Lo que nunca muere¨, despite its overlong , looks good , it passes the time in a pleasant way due to the large number of troubled situations happen and it blends the genres of thriller with melodrama , including romance with love and heartbreak , espionage , politics and action movie . It is well paced , nicely performed by fine actors/actresses, as the adequate leading role by Conrado San Martin who produced as well , the Italian Vira Silenti who starred some Peplums and great of secondaries , such as : Luis Induni, Gérard Tichy , Francisco Piquer , José Marco , among others.
It displays an atmospheric cinematography by cameraman Federico G. Larraya. As well as skill , appropriate edition by prestigious Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi to be followed by a notorious career as a famed director . The motion picture was professionality directed and it was very successful in its day . It can pass as an effective production , which is never boring and leaves an acceptable memory of movies made with effort and dedication and with religious and patriotic elements , of course . And it's not bad film , being entertaining enough , thanks to thriller , action , twists and turns . Julio Salvador made various pictures with his fetish actor Conrado San Martin such as ¨Sin Sonrisa De Dios¨, ¨Duda¨ , ¨Lo Que Nunca Muere¨ and his best film ¨Apartado Correos 1001¨. Salvador was also writer , producing or directing some international co-productions with famous actors . As he wrote "Love Brides of the Blood Mummy¨dealing with a Mummy rebirth and ¨The Mercenary¨ with Ray Danton . Furthermore , he wrote ¨Crypt of the Living Dead" also titled "Hannah, Queen of the Vampires" or "Young Hannah, Queen of the Vampires . Rating : Acceptable and passable , 6/10 . An alright movie that will appeal to Spanish cinema enthusiasts .
