In later years, Lucille Ball was vocal about hating the experience of shooting "The Dark Corner". The lion's share of her resentment was pointed at director Henry Hathaway, whose bullying reduced Ball to stuttering on set, at which point Hathaway accused her of being inebriated.
At the time "The Dark Corner" was made, Lucille Ball was suing to get out of her contract with MGM. As a result, MGM loaned her to Fox for this picture, which included a significant pay cut.
This film with many acclaimed actors could be considered a Who's Who of 1950's TV. Included are Lucille Ball (I Love Lucy (1951) ), William Bendix (The Life of Riley (1953)), Reed Hadley (Racket Squad (1950) and Public Defender (1954) ), Mark Stevens (Big Town (1950) ) and Cathy Downs (Ann Howe of The Joe Palooka Story (1954) ).
The skyscraper where Cathcart's dentist is located is referred to in this movie as the Grant Building. The building is really the 59 story Solomon Tower located at 500 5th Ave. at 42nd St. across from the New York Public Library. This skyscraper was completed in 1931.
