Leon Erroll and Elisabeth Risdon are a long-settled married couple about 1905. Then she attends a lecture, buys a book about women pushing their husbands forward, and he begins to get ahead by accident. He goes in to ask his boss, Edwin Maxwell, for a raise, and gets a major promotion instead. She makes him wear a morning coat, and he finds himself with the day off and made Parks Commissioner.
Although Erroll will eventually do his drunk act, and there will be a crisis to top off the plot, its charms lay in its depiction of a Mauve Decade couple. Far from Erroll's usual raucous, lecherous, cynical movie persona, he gives a nicely befuddled performance. With Emory Parnell, Charles Halton, Paul Harvey, and Charlotte Wynters.
