The department store manager (voiced by an uncredited Dick Nelson) is a parody of The Great Gildersleeve, a character played by Harold Peary in the radio program "Fibber McGee and Molly". Gildersleeve was so popular he was spun off into his own radio show, "The Great Gildersleeve", as well as a series of feature films and a TV series (The Great Gildersleeve (1954)). Bugs comments on this fact when he says he sounds like "Dat guy on da radio, da Great Gildersneeze."
One line where the Dept. Store Manager/Taxidermist says, "Now I'll finish you off," was done by Mel Blanc instead of Dave Barry.
The items mentioned as being on the sixth floor were under strict wartime rationing at the time of this short.
Features the classic TV and movie trope of "(store or hotel) manager fixes the bellhop's buttons (or collar) while riding in an elevator". This trope will be seen in many shows, including the 1990 movie, "Pretty Woman".
Stacey's Department Store is a pun on Macy's. At the time of this short, large city stores like this had a wide and varied range of departments.
