Universal Orlando Resort has announced that Epic Universe will officially open on May 22, 2025. According to a recent post from Universal Orlando Resort’s Twitter/X account, select multi-day tickets and packages will be available starting October 22, and reservations for the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews Hotel, will also open.

Universal Orlando‘s highly anticipated Epic Universe theme park will open in summer 2025, bringing new themed lands and groundbreaking attractions to Florida. Fresh off his Oscar-winning German-language film “All Quiet on the Western Front” and currently receiving high praise and awards buzz for his latest thriller, the Ralph Fiennes-led “Conclave,” director Edward Berger is looking to break boundaries with a new short film shot specifically for Apple Vision Pro. Titled “Submerged,” the short follows a group of young Navy men working a submarine during World War II that suddenly comes under attack. The first scripted short to use Apple Immersive Video, “Submerged” aims to place viewers inside the horrifying experience, but also has a larger goal of creating a new form of entertainment.

“It’s a wonderful new medium that just expands the horizon of storytelling,” Berger said in a promotional video for the short. “Because you’re not watching a movie anymore, you’re inside the story. It’s going to change the future of filmmaking.”

Universal Orlando revealed new details about one of the most highly-anticipated lands in its upcoming Epic Universe expansion park: its very own Super Nintendo World.

Orlando’s Super Nintendo World will be the company’s second such attraction in the U.S., after the Universal Studios Hollywood attraction of the same name that opened early last year and has become wildly popular. The Orlando attraction’s Super Mario Land will have some of the same features as the Hollywood attraction, including a real-life Green Pipe, Mt. Beanpole, Peach’s Castle, Piranha Plants, Goombas, spinning coins, ? Blocks and Bowser’s Castle, where guests can take a spin on Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge.

One key difference: The Orlando version looks bigger, a benefit for guests not only in the fact that it has additional features, but because one drawback of the fan-favorite Universal Hollywood attraction has been that it’s fairly small and gets crowded quickly.

The annual Canadian music awards show’s opening night took place on Saturday, hosted by “Run The Burbs” star and co-creator Andrew Phung and CBC Music radio host Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe.

Fourty awards were handed out to artists including The Weeknd, who led the pack with artist of the year; songwriter of the year and pop album of the year for Dawn FM; and single of the year for “Sacrifice”. He didn’t attend the ceremony in-person to receive the awards.

A theme park attraction can't just have a successful opening weekend, like a movie. This is something that needs to be built to last for decades that will hopefully never wain in popularity. For Disney in recent years, that has meant looking to their various intellectual properties for inspiration. Once they acquired Lucasfilm, "Star Wars" was going into the theme parks without question. Same goes for Marvel, once they could figure out how Universal's Florida theme park rights affected things. Plus, they have a library of generational animated classics to work with.

Netflix’s live-action adaption of “One Piece,” one of the most popular manga series ever, is coming to the streamer in 2023.

The company also released a first-look character teaser art of Monkey D. Luffy (see below). Netflix hasn’t yet set a premiere date for “One Piece,” which it originally ordered as a 10-episode series in January 2020.

The live-action “One Piece” is based on the manga series created by Eiichiro Oda, who also serves as executive producer. As previously announced, the Netflix series stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji. “One Piece” centers on Luffy, a young man who embarks on a journey to become king of the pirates — and to find the celebrated “One Piece” treasure.

Tom Verlaine, frontman and guitarist for seminal NYC punk band Television, has died at 73.

The New York Times reported that the punk pioneer died Saturday in Manhattan. Jesse Paris Smith, daughter of Verlaine’s ex and frequent collaborator Patti Smith, told the outlet that Verlaine died “following a brief illness.”

Born Thomas Miller in Denville, New Jersey, he met Richard Meyers at a boarding school in Delaware, with the two moving to New York City and changing their names to Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell, respectively, to form the band Neon Boys along with drummer Billy Ficca.

That band didn’t last, but then reformed as Television, adding guitarist Richard Lloyd. Television quickly became the darlings of the budding NYC punk scene, gaining a following with performances at legendary clubs CBGBs and Max’s Kansas City.

Tom Verlaine, the frontman of the band Television, which heavily influenced the New York punk rock scene in the 1970s, has died. He was 73.

The Hollywood Reporter learned on Saturday that the guitarist and songwriter died following a short illness in New York City, surrounded by close friends.

Born in New Jersey on Dec. 13, 1949, by the name of Thomas Miller, Verlaine grew up during most of his childhood in Wilmington, Delaware. Around five years after he moved to New York City in 1968, the musician founded the band Television in 1973 with Richard Hell, Billy Ficca and Richard Lloyd. Fred Smith was brought in after Hell departed the band two years later.

After eventually signing with Elektra Records, the band released its debut album, Marquee Moon, in early 1977. While the album got the attention of critics, it didn’t bode well for American audiences, but it did reach the charts in the U.

Television was not a huge commercial success, but Verlaine was a vast influence on guitarists of the era, and continued on as a solo artist after the group broke up after two albums.

Verlaine was the band’s lead singer and did most of the songwriting. His deep lyrics and the group’s somewhat ethereal sound made them a favorite of those who wanted some art with their rock. The former Thomas Miller adopted the name of poet Paul Verlaine as an added touch.

Fans of “Rick and Morty” are auditioning for the hit show following the ouster of co-creator and voice actor Justin Roiland.

With two domestic abuse charges from 2020 surrounding the co-creator and voice actor, Adult Swim will have to figure out how to tread forward without the original voice of the iconic characters.

Fans have taken to Twitter and TikTok to audition for the role of the titular characters following the ousting of Roiland. Many are pretty bad, but only a few fans take the auditions seriously.
