Featured review
A brilliant Hungarian movie from 1942.
The main character, Latabár Kálmán is believed to be the best Hungarian vaudevillian of all time. The "Egy bolond százat csinál" is one of the best movies of Latabár.
The title in English: One Fool Makes Other Hundred. This is originally a saying in Hungary.
Latabár played two roles: a chief steward (his name is Dömötör - this is a classical Hungarian name, but not too popular nowadays, because it sounds very funny) and a world famous lion hunter (his name is earl Rog-Igor-Szu-Azerew - this is a coinage, unreal name).
They are as like as two peas, and Dömötör takes advantage of the commonality. When the lion hunter goes away to the shooting-party the poor chief steward (Dömötör) personates the wealthy hunter, and lives like a king. But, the real hunter pops in unexpectedly ...
There is a sequence when we can see Latabár in both roles - this was a big special effect in Hungary in the 40s!
In this movie we can see Benkö Gyula, Hidvéghy Valéria, Egri Mária, Rajnay Gábor, Árpád Latabár (Kálmán's brother), etc. - they were very famous actors and actress in that time.
The "Egy bolond százat csinál" is an indisputably perfect movie, a masterpiece and great fun. Required to the movie fans!
