The Top 8 finisher on Season 4 of The Voice says she’s still marveling at the back-and-forth she has on Twitter with her newfound fans. “As much as they think I bless them, they bless me back sevenfold with their words of support and love and encouragement,” marvels Simmons. “The things that they say have brought me to tears, have made me laugh. You log on and see someone’s Tweeted ‘Puppies love you!’ That’s awesome.”

With just one more week before the live playoffs in Season 4 of "The Voice," it's time for the knockout rounds, wherein coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher once again force one of their artists to compete another, deciding who stays and who goes. Who will make it to the live shows? Only time will tell.

First Knockout: Team Adam - Amber Carrington vs. Midas Whale

Songs: "I'm With You" - Avril Lavigne (Amber); "Higher Ground" - Stevie Wonder (Midas Whale)

Performances: Amber sounds incredible on Avril's overused and, at times, tepid track. It's nice to hear her step outside of the country zone we've heard her in thus far. I hadn't been too fond of Midas Whale prior to this, finding them to play more the role of backup artists in their battle rounds. It was nice to have them put down the guitars and put on a show.

It was a strong night of dueling performances for Team Adam and Team Shakira, which are now down to just four acts each after the first night of knockout rounds on The Voice. Making tough choices with powerhouse singers - no steals, no saves - the judges admitted Monday that playing favorites and saying goodbye was ruining their night. But decisions had to be made. Amber Carrington beat out quirky duo Midas Whale with a nuanced and powerful turn on Avril Lavigne's hit "I'm With You." Levine called her the "biggest surprise on my team" and said, "Every day...

For a show that’s all about good vibrations and international warm fuzzies, The Voice can sometimes be a frustrating mistress.

Take, for example, the Season 4 Knockout Rounds, where Adam Levine and Shakira all too often pitted their best singers against each other in sudden-death faceoffs, while allowing lesser vocalists to slip into the live voting rounds like mold on the underside of a package of blackberries. (Yeah, I know, that metaphor didn’t quite work, but at three bucks a container, you’d think those juicy little treats would last more than 24 hours in the fridge. Sheesh!)

After a mind-blowing first round of play-offs on The Voice Monday, the celebrity coaches gave more mixed reviews on Tuesday's show. After opening with a group performance of My Chemical Romance's "Sing," Christina Aguilera's and Cee Lo Green's singers took the stage for their solos. Devyn DeLoera and Diego Val strived to give it their all, but ultimately fell short. Team Christina's DeLoera hoped to show viewers her softer side with a rendition of Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love," but her vocals did little to convince the coaches that she had more than one singing style. NBC's "The Voice" singing competition usually begins at mid-season, but this year, they're kicking off the fall in a big way. Coaches Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton will be back -- along with host Carson Daly and social media correspondent Christina Milian. Additionally, the show is (of course) keeping the trademark blind auditions as is... but as executive producer Mark Burnett confirmed at a press conference at his Malibu home on Sunday, there will be some major changes.

First of all, "The Voice" is kicking up the tension in the Battle Rounds. After the blind auditions, the contestants go head-to-head with members of their own teams -- but now, instead of sending the "loser" of the Battle Rounds home right away, the other coaches will have the opportunity to "steal" them from their original coach! It’s the go home show before Bound For Glory which means its their last time to sell the show! And in an interview this week Hulk Hogan completely buried Robert Roode as a credible main eventer by saying he doesn’t think hes the guy, and that Angle should “Carry” him to a good match nonetheless. Way to bury your own main event Hulk.

Speaking of the main event, Kurt Angle, the defending champion is first out tonight and calls out his challenger Robert Roode right away. “Next World Champ” chant. Kurt says he booked the matches the past few weeks to try and break him down. Angle congratulates him for winning them, but reminds him he’s the greatest wrestler ever and he’ll prove it at Bfg.
