The very first scene the boys shot was "Who's on First".
The film was a flop but Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were so popular that Universal offered the team a two-picture deal with the option to extend the contract. Also, they would receive 10% of the films' profits.
When Realart Pictures reissued this picture in the late 1940s, some 20 minutes were cut at the expense of the plot to give Bud Abbott and Lou Costello proportionately more screen time.
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were big radio stars when they made this, their debut film. Their voices are heard before they appear on screen.
