- TriviaThis film is one of over 200 titles in the list of independent feature films made available for television presentation by Advance Television Pictures announced in Motion Picture Herald 4 April 1942. At this time, television broadcasting was in its infancy, almost totally curtailed by the advent of World War II, and would not continue to develop until 1945-1946. Because of poor documentation (feature films were often not identified by title in conventional sources) no record has yet been found of its initial television broadcast. It's earliest documented telecast in New York City was Thursday 23 September 1948 on WATV (Channel 13). In Detroit it first aired Thursday 17 February 1949 on WJBK (Channel 2), in Chicago Monday 25 April 1949 on WBKB (Channel 4), in Philadelphia Monday 29 August 1949 on Frontier Playhouse on WPTZ (Channel 3), and in Cincinnati Friday 9 December 1949 on WCPO (Channel 7).

This poverty row independent film was a real find. Not that Citizen Kane is any danger of Trails Of The Wild displacing it in cinema history. But I did rather like the location cinematography at Big Bear Lake in this story of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Kermit Maynard stars in this film, the story of a mining engineer who changes career after a friend who was going to join the RCMP is shot and killed. Even a prospective Mountie gets the whole force determined to get that man.
But instead Maynard is given an assignment with Fuzzy Knight to go on a missing persons case. Another mining engineer John Elliott has vanished and his daughter Billie Seward is raising a fuss.
Do you doubt what will happen. All I will say is that Maynard's mining background definitely helps solve the case.
The Big Bear Lake country is beautiful even in black and white and the story is not a bad one.
