Alternate versions

Some prints omit the opening verses of the song "Toyland" ("When you've grown up, my dears", etc.), and begin the song with the main chorus ("Toyland, Toyland," etc.). Other prints omit Mother Goose's vocal of the song entirely, and have only the chorus singing the song.

The film was restored and colorized for TV showings and video release in 1991 by The Samuel Goldwyn Company. In 2006, the complete print was restored and colorized by Legend Films, using the latest technology. Although the Legend Films release was advertised under its reissue title, both the color and black and white prints featured the original title and opening credits. Both colorized versions correctly depict Stan's hair as being red, not medium brown as it appears in other colorized Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy movies.

Although the film was fully restored in the 1991, the title remained "March of the Wooden Soldiers", and revert to the original 1934 title, "Babes in Toyland" only on TV in 1991 until the 2006 DVD release by Legend Films (advertised as "March of the Wooden Soldiers" but containing the original title and credits on the film itself).

There is an Italian edition of this film on DVD, distributed by DNA srl, "IL VILLAGGIO INCANTATO (Nel paese delle meraviglie, 1934) - New Widescreen Edition + LA BATTAGLIA DEGLI ALBERI DI NATALE (1929)" (2 Films on a single DVD, with "March of the Wooden Soldiers - Babes in Toyland" in double version 1.33:1 and 1.78:1), re-edited with the contribution of film historian Riccardo Cusin. This version is also available for streaming on some platforms.

Film was cut by six minutes after original premiere. The cut footage from this film, containing the entire "Go To Sleep" sequence, has recently been restored and the movie has been seen on cable TV at its full length of 78 minutes.
