An ad for the movie in the December 19, 1931 issue of "Motion Picture Herald" said: Read what happened at the Roxy, 7th Ave. & 50th St., New York. 6700 paid admissions, 6000 turned away to see "Alice in Wonderland". First children's talkie to reach the screen. Over 12,000 at the box office by 9 AM. Longest line ever before a box office!!!!! Children came as early as 7:30 AM!!!!! 100 police reserves to handle crowd!!!!.
