Nancy Carroll and Zelma O'Neal both had naturally red hair, and O'Neal's was dyed darker to provide more contrast between the two of them.
Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart wrote four songs for this film. Only one ("I'm Hard to Please") ended up in the final film.
The final golf championship scene used 200 extras. They all had to be coached with regards to when to applaud and other golf etiquette.
The original Broadway production of "Follow Thru" opened at the Chanin's 46th Street Theatre on January 9, 1929, and ran for 401 performance. Jack Haley, Zelma O'Neal, Margaret Lee and Don Tomkins reprise their original stage roles. Other opening-night cast members included Arthur Aylesworth, Madeline Cameron, Edith Campbell, Dorothy Day, Irene Delroy, Al Downing, Frank Kingdon and John Sheehan.
One of over 700 Paramount productions, filmed between 1929-49, which were sold to MCA/Universal in 1958 for television distribution, and have been owned and controlled by Universal ever since. However, because of legal complications, this particular title was not included in the original television package and may not have ever been televised.
