I'm not sure why this Monty Banks short is called 'Horse Shoes'. It is a typically fine set of gags, impeccably executed -- Banks does a great version of the 'Undressing in the Upper Berth' routine that is simultaneously realistic and funny and the sequence in which he escapes from the attentions of the conductor are excellent. After Banks' short subject career was over in the US he wound up in Great Britain, directing some very funny programmers.
But this short seems incomplete as it ends too early. It feels like it might have been a three-reeler, since his impending romance with a very young Jean Arthur is left hanging. But the gag sequences are very funny. Give it a try if it comes your way.
