Actor Bernard White is recognizable from his work in over 30 feature films. White just wrapped a lead role in Quarantine (2008). Memorable roles include "Agha Babur" in American Dreamz (2006), and "Rama-Kandra" in The Matrix Reloaded (2003), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003). White also starred with Michelle Williams and John Diehl in Wim Wenders's Land of Plenty (2004).

Onstage, he starred in "The Seven" at The La Jolla Playhouse in February and March of this year. Last summer, he starred in a main stage production of "Blithe Spirit" at The Williamstown Theatre Festival with Wendie Malick, Jessica Hecht and Adriane Lenox. Prior to that, White starred in Ola Mafalani's theatrical production of "Wings of Desire" at A.R.T,, and toured Europe with the original production. In winter of 2006, White co-starred in an off-Broadway production of "Landscape of The Body", along with Lili Taylor. He was seen the previous year at Williamstown in "Lucy And The Conquest".

White garnered praise for his comedic skills in Garry Marshall Raising Helen (2004) and the independent film Sueño (2005). Other film credits include The Scorpion King (2002), Pay It Forward (2000), City of Angels (1998), Strange Days (1995), and a host of independent films, including Killing Obsession (1994), Pain Within (2007), The World Unseen (2007), with Sheetal Sheth and Lisa Ray, and a multi award-winning short "American Made".

A familiar face to TV viewers, White has recurred on some of television's hottest series: 24 (2001), The West Wing (1999), JAG (1995) and Alias (2001). Recent television guest-star roles include: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008), CSI: Miami (2002), ER (1994), The Unit (2006), Heartland (2007), and E-Ring (2005).

In fall of 2005, White played the title role in Sakharam Binder, for New York City's The Play Company. An acclaimed stage actor, White also played the title character in Joseph Papp's "The Death Of Garcia Lorca", at The Public. He has starred in "Dogeaters" at The La Jolla Playhouse, "A Perfect Ganesh" at The Odyssey, and "Queen of The Remote Control" at East West Players. Award-winning solo performances include "Where She Went, and as John In "The Hill Country".

In 2001, White stepped behind the camera to direct his first film, The Want (2001), which he also wrote. In addition, White has penned several screenplays, and a multitude of stage plays, many of which were produced in Los Angeles. He also founded 'Plymouth', a flourishing experimental theatre company in Hollywood. He had a regular role in the syndicated series Dragnet (1989). He began his career on daytime television with contract roles on General Hospital (1963), Santa Barbara (1984) and Days of Our Lives (1965).

White, an American citizen, was born in Sri Lanka, raised in Detroit, and graduated with a B.A. in Theatre from Michigan State. He divides his time between LA and New York City.

John Carson was a hugely prolific actor who appeared constantly on UK screens throughout the mid-50s until the mid-80s. He has appeared alongside many of the UK's stars and became hugely popular as a villain or hero. The secret of John's success was his versatility and his wonderful silky voice. He appeared in 3 Hammer films which led to an ever-increased popularity amongst film fans. John moved to South Africa from England in the early 80s and, sadly, his appearances became far more sporadic although he always kept working in films and television, even producing and filming his own short documentary, "African Spirit". He returned to England in 2007 and has been involved in a few films, such as The Deal (2008). He attended a John Carson Celebration Day in London (July 2009). This was the first time he had talked publicly about his long career in television, film and stage. The day was a huge success and, aside from a showing of two of his films, John gave an interview on stage and then signed autographs. The day was a huge success and this was proved so by a large attendance and the queues for his autograph and photos. John returned to South Africa in 2014 where he spent time with his family and got to relax a little. He sadly passed away on November 5th, 2016, a few weeks before his 90th birthday. He was a fine actor and leaves behind a legacy of his versatility on screen.

Nimmi Harasgama is a British-Sri Lankan award winning actor and writer. In May 2021 Nimmi was nominated for best "Drama Performance" by the British National Television Awards for her portrayal of series regular Nurse Mari on The Good Karma Hospital (ITV).

In 2020 Nimmi played the female lead, Amma/Nalini, in Deepa Mehta's film Funny Boy.

Nimmi acts in English, Sinhala, and Tamil. Her performance in the Sinhala film August Sun won her the Best Actress award at the Las Palmas International Film Festival and the Vishwa Keerthi, the highest arts award in Sri Lanka. She was the lead in the Tamil short I Too Have A Name, which was in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Nimmi plays series regular, Nurse Mari, on The Good Karma Hospital which is set to film its fourth series in 2021. She can also be seen in the Netflix series Requiem as Detective Alice Brenton.

In British Indie film Hello Darling Nimmi she plays Aanya. The film has won numerous Best Film awards internationally.

Nimmi began her career in theatre. Her last theatre appearance was as the Snow Queen in the West End production of The Snow Queen.

Nimmi has written all her life but her first published/performed work was commissioned by UK theatre company Tamasha. Auntie Netta's Holiday For Asylum was a one woman show based on her YouTube character Auntie Netta. The show premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Her play 'My Homemade Kite' was part of Kali Theatre's (UK) 'Women In War' Series and had a rehearsed reading at Tristan Bates Theatre. She is currently in development to have a full production both in the UK and the US.

Her TV show Brown Girl Panic has been optioned by Blue Bear Production Company and recently had a rehearsed reading commissioned by SKY TV (UK). She is also a story consultant and writer for an animated series that is in development by Blue Bear Productions.

Nimmi is co-writing a screenplay based on an Indian novel for GURU productions.

Her most recent character, Brûlée, a parody of social media influencers, has taken Sri Lankan Instagram by storm. Brûlée joins Auntie Netta, Nimmi's longtime YouTube character who was reborn during the 80 days of 24/7 COVID-19 curfew her family experienced in Sri Lanka. Auntie Netta became a Goodwill Ambassador for WHO's Sri Lanka's campaign on educating people about COVID-19 safety during that time.

Nimmi is a committed for Human Rights advocate. She has a BA in Drama and Theatre Arts from Goldsmiths College (University of London). She trained at Groundlings Improv School and Lesly Kahn & Co Drama School in LA. and the New York Film Academy in NYC. During and after the war in Sri Lanka, Nimmi utilized her training with John Martin (Pan Intercultural Arts) and Augusto Boal (Theatre for the Oppressed) in her work with war and tsunami affected children and young adults. These projects were located in the North and East and were conducted through the British Council and Save The Children. She has also worked with young adult refugees In the UK through Pan Intercultural Arts.

Much of Nimmi's writing has to do with her own experiences of being an immigrant and her work with refugees.

Thusitha Jayasundera was born in 1971 in Sri Lanka. She is an actress, known for The Foreigner (2017), Doctor Foster: A Woman Scorned (2015) and The Bill (1984). She has been married to Simon Allen since 2002. They have one child.

Albert Moses was born on 19 December 1937 in Gampola, Kandy District, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). He was an actor and producer, known for The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Octopussy (1983) and An American Werewolf in London (1981). He died on 15 September 2017 in London, England, UK.

Ceylon-born Colin Gordon began acting on the West End stage as the hind legs of a horse in 'Toad of Toad Hall' in 1934. After wartime service, he returned to the stage, appearing in such plays as 'The White Carnation' and 'The Little Hut' (both 1953), 'Misery Me!' (1955) and 'The Touch of Fear' (1956). His award-winning stage role of teacher Rupert Billings in 'The Happiest Days of Your Life' was recreated for the film version by another bespectacled actor, Richard Wattis. From 1957, Colin worked as actor-director with the Guildford Repertory Theatre. Though he is usually described as a 'light comedy actor', Colin made his mark in the acting profession as much by playing countless supercilious or sneering bureaucrats, lawyers or haughty military types. His stock-in-trade became his ever-present horn-rimmed glasses, combined with a cynical or asinine manner and a precisely modulated voice. His best performances might include pompous BBC announcer Reginald Willoughby-Cruft in The Green Man (1956) and his bank manager, locked up in the Strongroom (1962) of his own bank during a robbery. He is likely best remembered for being a particularly sinister Number 2 to Patrick McGoohan in TV's The Prisoner (1967) - twice.

D.R. Nanayakkara was born on 15 March 1915 in Kolonnawa, Colombo District, Ceylan [now Sri Lanka]. He was an actor, known for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), Seedevi (1951) and Amma (1949). He died on 4 January 1989.

Pooja Umashankar was born on 25 June 1981 in Sri Lanka. She is an actress, known for Vidiyum Munn (2013), Naan Kadavul (2009) and Pori (2007). She is married to Prashan David Vedhakan.

Born in 1962, Prasanna Vithanage became involved in theatre on leaving school. He translated and directed Bernard Shaw's "Arms and the Man" in 1986, and Dario Fo's "Trumpets and Raspberries" in 1991. In 1992, he directed his first film "Sisila Gini Gani" (Ice of Fire). It won nine OCIC (Sri Lanka) Awards including Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. Four years later in 1996 was his second feature "Anantha Rathriya" (Dark Night of the Soul), which he wrote and directed. It was based on Leo Tolstoy's last novel "Resurrection". It participated in several international film festivals and won a Jury's Special Mention in the First Pusan International Film Festival. The film also won all the main awards at the 1996 Sri Lanka Film Critics Forum Awards (affiliated with FIPRESCI) including awards for Most Outstanding Film, Best Director and Best Screenwriter. "Pawuru Walalu" (Walls Within), his third feature in 1997 won the Best Actress Award for Nita Fernando in her role as Violet, at the 1998 Singapore International Film Festival. It even won ten out of eleven awards including Best Picture and Best Director at the Sri Lanka Film Critics Forum Awards. His fourth feature "Purahanda Kaluwara" (Death on a Full Moon Day) of the same year, 1997, which he wrote and directed was produced by NHK (Japanese Broadcasting Corporation). It won the Grand Prix at the Amiens Film Festival. Initially banned by the minister in charge of film industry, it was released after a yearlong legal battle. It was given the release under the supreme court verdict. Since it has become one of the most successful film in the more than half a century history of cinema in Sri Lanka. Prasanna Vithanage completed "Ira Madiyama" (August Sun) his fifth film in 2003. It went on to win many international awards and was featured prominently in the world festival circuit. In 2007, Vithanage co-produced the hit film "Machan" a comedy about a group of working class con artists posing as a handball team, directed by "The Full Monty" producer Uberto Pasolini. "Machan" premiered at the 65th Venice Film Festival in 2008. It was shown widely all over the world winning 11 international awards. 2008 also saw the world premiere of Prasanna Vithanage's sixth feature film as director, "Akasa Kusum" (Flowers of the Sky) in Pusan, Korea and screened over forty film festivals to wide acclaim winning numerous international awards. "Oba Nathuwa Oba Ekka" (With You, Without You) is his seventh feature. His feature debut Documentary "Silence in the Courts" was the first Documentary film which had a theatrical run in Sri Lanka, despite being initially banned from public screening by the Colombo District Court of Sri Lanka. His historical drama film 'Gaadi - Children of the Sun' (2019) won Cultural Diversity Award at Asia Pacific Screen Awards and ran for 98 days theatrically in Sri Lanka. 'Paradise' (2023) is his first Indian language film in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Sinhala. 'Paradise' had its World Premiere at the 28th Busan International Film Festival 2023 and won the Kim Jeseok Award.

Hugh Burden was a distinguished British actor and playwright. He was born in Colombo (then Ceylon), the son of a colonial official. He was sent to England at the age of ten to further his education. At Beaumont College, he studied history, French and music, becoming proficient on the piano. He trained for acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made his theatrical debut in 1933. He served in the British Army in India from 1939, but was invalided out two years later.

He appeared in films including classics such as One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1942), The Way Ahead (1944) and Malta Story (1953), but he would become most prolific on television. He starred as J.G. Reeder in The Mind of Mr. J.G. Reeder (1969) for Thames Television, based on the short stories by the English crime writer Edgar Wallace. He is also remembered by cult television fans for his performance as the sinister alien Channing, who plots to take over the world with killer shop window dummies called Autons, in Jon Pertwee's Doctor Who (1963) debut Spearhead from Space: Episode 1 (1970).

Balu Mahendra was born on 20 May 1939 in Sri Lanka. He was a cinematographer and director, known for Moondram Pirai (1982), Kokila (1977) and Sandhya Raagam (1989). He was married to Ahileshwari. He died on 13 February 2014 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

Allirajah Subaskaran (born 2 March 1972), is a Sri Lankan Tamil entrepreneur, film producer, and the founder and chairman of Lycamobile, which launched in 2006 and now operates in 21 countries worldwide with a subscriber base over 5 billion customers. His Lyca Productions is based in Chennai, India and began with its first film Kaththi (2014). It is currently producing the science fiction thriller 2.0, touted to be India's costliest film. After announcing 2.0 and its budget Lyca Productions is the wealthiest production company in Asia till date. A very successful man who has now stepped into charity work is not going to stop his magnum opus step into the third world.

Allirajah Subaskaran and his mother Gnanambikai Allirajah founded a charity, The Gnanam Foundation, in 2010 in order to provide help for marginalised communities and those who have been abandoned without care during the Sri Lankan Civil War. It exists to extend funds to promote means of livelihood for those in need for specific projects on an individual, family or community basis. The Gnanam Foundation is based on the ethos of "teach a person to fish", providing opportunities for people to develop skills to support themselves. Since 2012, The Gnanam Foundation have partnered up with many other organisations including the British Asian Trust, Children's Hunger Relief and Muslim Aid to donate to a number of worthy causes. In 2015, The Gnanam Foundation set to construct 150 homes in the Vavuniya District of Sri Lanka.

In October 2011 Lycatel was ranked 1st in the Sunday Times 250 leading mid-market private companies. Allirajah received a gold award for Best Overall Enterprise in 2010 at the Asian Achievers Award ceremony for the impact he has made on the Asian community in the UK. Lyca Mobile got awarded the best MVNO, winning against Vodafone and O2 taking the lead in 2013. The Asian Voice Political and Public Life awarded Allirajah in 2011 its "International Entrepreneur of the Year' award.

In 2012 the English Asian Business Awards presented Allirajah with the "2011 Power Business of the Year" award, recognizing the growth of the Lycamobile business globally. As well as the "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" award.

Radhika Sarathkumar is an Indian actress, producer, politician, and entrepreneur. She is known for her work in Tamil and Telugu cinema and Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam cinema. Sarathkumar (also known as Raadhika) grew up in Chennai, India, and completed her education in India and the United Kingdom.

Joan Elan was born on 24 July 1928 in Colombo, Ceylon [now Sri Lanka]. She was an actress, known for Darby's Rangers (1958), Matinee Theatre (1955) and Front Row Center (1955). She was married to Harry Franklin ("Bud") Nye Jr.. She died on 7 January 1981 in New York City, New York, USA.

Gehan Cooray was born on 6 October 1987 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is an actor and producer, known for The Billionaire (2020), The Land of Oz (2015) and The Summer We First Met (2015).

Dhanushka Gunathilake has a strong background in film as a cinematographer and educator. He produced the first ever internationally franchised reality show in Sri Lanka, "Obada Lakshapathi Mamada Lakshapathi" ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?") in 2010. He has worked on a variety of commercial productions including "The Amazing Race" (India 2008), TV commercials, documentaries, video art and many music videos to date. He has produced, shot and consulted on film projects for the BBC, International Planned Parenthood Federation, UNSECO, the United Nations Development Program, the NationalChild Protection Authority (Sri Lanka), the Red Cross (Singapore), Oxfam (Australia) and Education TV unit of the Rupavahini Corporation.

Dhanushka has worked as a cinematographer in the critically acclaimed film "Thanha Rathi Ranga" for which he received the best cinematography awards in Derana Film Awards in 2015, OCIC Film awards in 2015 as well as Hiru Golden Film Awards in 2016. He was also the associate cinematographer of "Sulanga Gini Aran" which was the first Sri Lankan film to be premiered in the main competition at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. His Latest Films are 'Amawaka', 'Ginnen Upan Seethala' and 'Suparana'.

Dhanushka received his BSc in Information Technology from Edith Corwen University (Perth, Australia), an MA in Film and Television from the Rai University (Pune and Mumbai, India) and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune, India). He has taught courses in film production at The Indira School of Communication (Pune, India) and St. Xavier's College (Mumbai, India) in the past. He, is, at present, a visiting lecturer at a number of prestigious Universities in Sri Lanka, including the University of Peradeniya, the University of Visual and Performing Arts Colombo, University of Colombo, University of Moratuwa, University of Kelaniya and UNIVOTECH. Dhanushka also designed and coordinates the Higher National Diploma in Film and Television at Sri Lanka Foundation Digital Film Academy, where he works as a senior lecturer. In 2016/ 2017, Dhanushka worked as a cinematographer in his latest films " Amawka Sanda" ( The Invisible Moon) which is directed by Vijitha Gunarathne and " Ginnen Upan Sithala" ( Chill Out of Fire) which is directed by Anuruddha Jayasinghe respectively, which are in the post production stage at the moment.

He is also a resource person at Open Doors in Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, a curator of the Colombo International Student Film Festival (COINS Film Fest), a consultant for SAARC Film Festival, Iran Film Festival - Colombo and a committee member of the International Film Festival of Colombo (IFFCOLOMBO). He was also a Jury member of the Asia Peace Film Festival in Islamabad in 2017, State Music Awards 2015 ,Derana Music Video Awards 2016 and RAIGAM TELE'ES 2018.

Yolande Bavan was born on 1 June 1942 in Ceylon [now Sri Lanka]. She is an actress, known for The Accidental Husband (2008), Parting Glances (1986) and The Brave One (2007).
