How do you make a movie from a huge 640 page book and change literally the entire story, right down to the names of all the characters? The book is scary, frustrating, desperate, nerve-wracking, and horrifying, with a great twist at the end. The movie is none of these things. I will never understand why someone would read a fantastic book, think, "Hey, this would make an awesome film," and then put nothing from the book into said film. A girl rents a room in a haunted house, and that's where the similarities between book and movie end. I was really looking forward to this movie after devouring the novel, and now I'm just irritated. Two thumbs way down.
