First off, I'd like to say that Kat Graham is totally miscast in this part. She's 5'2" tall and Tom Hopper is a giant, at 6'5". But it's not only the disparity in height ----- Kat needs a few more acting lessons. (Sorry, Kat.) Some of her facial expressions (and Tom's, too) were a bit over the top.
Tom Hopper is the reason I watched this, and also because I read a nasty '3' IMDb review, which I'm here to say isn't deserved, at all. I watched the entire movie and I make a real effort not to watch awful, junky stuff. I.e., this film does have redeeming qualities. It has its moments.
The writing is a bit over the top. "Julie," (Kat Graham) in the beginning (and pretty much throughout the film) comes off as a controlling, unlikeable b---ch. I nearly stopped watching just because her character was such a selfish, snotty brat.
But then Tom Hopper/Charlie came on the scene. Where do I know this hunk a hunk from? Oh, right: Umbrella Academy and GoT. Tom's got some acting chops, but the director for this film ----- I don't know. He had Charlie's looks of pain and annoyance come across as if Charlie was passing gas or something. Not a good look. A good director would've got it right, I think.
The story isn't all that silly or unsavory. It takes a few neat twists and turns. There's some comedy, with a few really fresh and new lines that I quite enjoyed.
It's all mostly "Is this destiny we two should meet?" type stuff, but if you're into watching rom-coms, you could do a lot worse. Tom Hopper, Laura Hopper (Cassie) and Raymond Ablack (Brandon) are all great in this (apart from the times when I blame the director for not getting it right).
OMG, All those missing teeth.
