I have been a fan of the Trollhunters series and franchise since it began. I love the characters and the mythology that were built by all three shows. I was very excited when I learned about the movie. All things considered the movie was good, except for the end. Yes, the movie was rushed, and there were a couple of strange subplots, but the story and animation was great, right up until the very end. The ending totally erased everything that happened before it. The character growth, relationships, and storyline. It makes no since that Toby would be chosen as Trollhunter. It was literally Jim's destiny, no matter how it happened. We see that in the Wizards show when they accidentally change time. Daya is still chosen by the amulet, even though time was changed. To have Toby be the Trollhunter instead of Jim goes against the show's own mythology rules.
Even though the ending is disappointing, I still think you should watch it. It is an important piece to the Trollhunter universe, even if it did not have the ending it deserved.
