This reminded me vividly of time spent in Brazil, it was almost like being there again and I enjoyed the film a lot for that reason. It felt rather claustrophobic though as we scarcely leave the apartment blocks and their streets. No cafes, restaurants, offices, dry cleaners or shopping centres in sight.
The characters story lines are largely domestic in nature, it's all about daily life with a lot about how neighbours rub along. The threads of the stories mainly don't come together, but there is an ending in sight which pulls a couple of threads together. Though other threads are left hanging leaving one uncertain about what happened, such as why a couple split up.
I'm sure I spotted a comet at one point, or was that a dream?
