"Dream of Ore Magi" by filmmaker Evan Curtis presents a surreal journey on his individual artist's path. Ore Magi represents the artist's personal muse and the collision of destructive impulses bound within the creative process. Visually beautiful, emotionally haunting and uplifting. 4 minutes of film more powerful than most 2 hour blockbusters.
I viewed this film along with another short film by Curtis, "Chief Serenbe" (another masterpiece but I'll deal with that elsewhere), only once and it deserves at least a couple of more viewings. Currently it is not available, as far as I can tell for free download, but if you're lucky it will come to a film festival near you. "Chief Serenbe" can be found on the internet and I highly recommend that film to get a taste of Evan Curtis' talents.
Curtis describes himself as a "feral child of the Adirondacks" in northern New York state. "The Dream of Ore Magi" was produced as his MFA thesis at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta. Curtis specializes in stop motion animation. His films have claimed numerous awards at film festivals nationwide.
