I am a big fan of Supermassive games. My favourites being House of Ashes and the Quarry. Unfortunately, this entry is not their best.
Obviously, as this one is a tie in with Dead by Daylight there is plenty of lore and easter eggs fron that. Easter eggs can only get you so far, however, and the other aspects of the game feel like they are lacking something.
The story is alright... but it doesn't have great pacing. In the other games the sense of threat was relatively well spread out. In this I didn't really feel much in the way of creepiness or horror until pretty late on.
The camera gimmick gets old pretty fast, as do the generators. I know the generators are a reference to Dead by Daylight... but they feel overused here.
I do like the cutting room floor. It gives you a way to see where paths can branch so that you can easily go back and try to work out the different paths. Unfortunately, a lot of these paths do feel rather arbitrary.
The cutting room floor does come with some irritating factors however. It really needs a function that allows you to zoom out and look at the thing from a distance. Having to move through the whole thing whilst zoomed in is rather annoying. I am currently hoping that they will patch that feature in later.
All in all... it is a fairly standard Supermassive Games affair... not as good as many of their others... unless you are really really motivated by the Dead by Daylight factor of course.
