Spookt: Accomplishes nothing

Plot

In Greenville, Pennsylvania, paranormal investigator Claire and skeptic Rachel investigate a missing girl and Dr. Byler's dark past. Supernatural occurrences tied to the Gibson house challenge their beliefs as they unravel buried secrets.

Cast

Our leads are very underwhelming, Erin "Misty Mundae" Brown is there and I didn't even recognize her and Eric Roberts? He probably recorded his scenes from his home in about 5-6 minutes as they're fleeting and he interacts with nobody.

Verdict

You know what drew me in? The cover artwork, it's got a real 1980's slasher style and I hoped this meant that the film would draw influence from that as well. To be clear it 100% does not in anyway shape or form.

It focuses around a ghost hunter and a skeptic who have to work together in a haunted house, the dialogue therefore is as enlightened as you'd imagine.

The plot is a husk of recycled tripe, at no point does the movie feel like it's really going anywhere, it couldn't be less inspired and the advertising of industry rent-a-celeb hack Roberts is blatantly false as his moments in the film are blink and you'll miss them and are even more apathetic than usual (And that's saying something).

Spookt is lazy writing paired with lazy direction sat in a foundation of boredom.

Rants

Drug addict, religious fanatic, political extremist, criminal with drug/trespassing/assaulting an officer and spousal abuse charges. How does Roberts have a career? How do people see him as the "Good Christian man". He's an absolute wretch of a human being and a stain on the industry and any movie he's in.

The Good

Cover art

The Bad

Goes nowhere Uninspired and nonsensical Just feels lazy throughout Eric Roberts.
