Biography

This appealing, upbeat performer, graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and published poet and author, first stepped on stage in the 1980s as a dancer and actor. In 2019, after raising her daughter, she added film, web and TV roles.

Initially cast as the mean, crazy type due to her American Gothic ability to laugh hysterically for as long as a shoot takes and to look angry and querulous on demand whether as a high-powered socialite or down-and-out derelict, Lecia quickly gained a foothold in the web, short and indy film worlds.

However, that typecasting didn't stick. Her bright smile, everywoman looks and quirky demeanor have seen Lecia frequently cast as vulnerable mothers or widows, naive marks, savvy and kind professionals, or stubbornly odd neighbors. Fans and colleagues value her warmth, energy and generous humor, and Lecia continues to entertain invitations to collaborate and create. She produces and curates poetry and essays online when time and topics allow.

Based in Austin, Texas, where the rest of her family spontaneously converged shortly before COVID - including her mother, now nearly a nonagenerian - Lecia has recently recovered from two hip surgeries and appreciates walking and sitting criss-cross applesauce like nobody's business.
