Mumbai, May 18 (Ians) Filmmaker Sudipto Sen introduced the real inspiration for his controversial movie, ‘The Kerala Story’, at a press in Mumbai on Wednesday evening.

A highlight of the press conference was an interaction with the young women who had escaped religious conversion in Kerala and were being looked after by the Aarsha Vidya Samajam Ashram. Sen said these young women had inspired him to make the film.

“Their number is too many in our country, but few of them are with us today here, and I want to honour them all,” Sen said.

“Let me share with you a little incident,” Sen continued. “I want to share this incident because without knowing it you probably wouldn’t know where the roots of this film are.

New Delhi, May 2 (Ians) The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind has moved the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Centre and others not to allow the screening or release of the film ‘The Kerala Story’ in theatres, Ott platforms and other such avenues, besides seeking removal of the film’s trailer from the internet.

Earlier on Tuesday, the apex court had declined to immediately hear a plea seeking a stay on the release of the controversial movie direceted by Sudipto Sen and produced by Sunshine Pictures.

A bench comprising justices K.M. Joseph and B.V. Nagarathna observed that the censor board has already cleared the movie and the petitioners should rather challenge the film’s certification before an appropriate authority.

The bench said that the exhibition of films entails a different process, therefore the plea seeking a stay on the release of the movie cannot be clubbed with hate speech matters.

Actress Yogita Bihani, 23, says it was challenging to play a mother in her debut TV show.

"Dil Hi Toh Hai" had premiered in June last year on Sony Entertainment Television. A few months later, the channel pulled the plug on the show. It is now back with season two, this time on a digital platform.

The characters have gone through changes. Yogita's Palak is now a mother of two girls.

Asked what it was like to play a mother at such a young age, Yogita said, "It was always meant to be a finite series. We ended season one on the channel and now we have season two. I knew this (would be the) story.?

"As an actor, you have to play different characters - mother, daughter, sister or even a physically challenged person. So playing a mother by a 23-year-old was a different challenge because I don't know how kids work.
