Kuba Mikurda is a director and a film scholar. His documentaries have been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Kuba's 2018 debut film, Love Express: The Disappearance of Walerian Borowczyk, produced for HBO, won the Chopin's Nose award for the best documentary about music or art at the 15th Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival. His second film, Escape to the Silver Globe, about the turbulent history of the Andrzej Zulawski film On the Silver Globe, received numerous awards and was one of the most talked-about films of 2021 in Poland.
Kuba has traveled a unique path, from acclaimed film critic to creator of award-winning documentaries. He didn't graduate from film school; he studied psychology and philosophy and is a self-taught filmmaker. Kuba has worked at Canal+ Polska and now teaches at the National Film School in Lodz, where he runs the Essay Film Studio
