Josh Brandon is an American television and stage actor and international voiceover artist. Born and raised near Knoxville, TN, Josh started his career doing stand-up comedy and cut his teeth on the theatre stages of East Tennessee State University. It was there where he garnered a nomination for the Irene Ryan Scholarship Award for his first male lead role, Delmount Williams in "The Miss Firecracker Contest". After a near 20-year hiatus Josh returned to stage performance in 2019. Josh was featured in Annie Baker's "Circle Mirror Transformation" at the Flying Anvil Theatre in Knoxville. Through the Covid-19 Pandemic, Josh has performed in various live readings and video-conference performances to help promote and invigorate live theatre. Josh was Dillon in Jayne Morgan's "The Deadline", a live video-chat tele-play. He played Joke Cassidy in the Tennessee State Company's live reading of "Transisters" during their New Play Festival. He also performs in various accents from various UK and European as well as most North American accents. He played the French Doctor Caius in Tennessee Stage Company's Drunken Shakespeare virtual performance of Merry Wives of Windsor.
During his hiatus from acting, Josh spent nearly two decades as a radio personality and programmer in nearly every format. Josh is the voice of radio stations such as ESPN's Charlotte affiliate, 730 The Game, and produces concert promos and other commercials. He has voiced characters in films like "Live", "The Undertaker's Daughter", "Superchat", as well as podcast/audio drama series like "Tara Tremendous", "Origins Unknown", and he plays Geo, The Magic Map on "Following Bliss", Almighty Man on "Superhero Confidential", and has a recurring role as the villainous 1059 on "Dr. Epicopolis and 1102 Show of Shows". He and has also performed voice work for clients such as Microsoft, Budweiser/Anheuser Busch, Xfinity, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Oak Ridge National Laboratories. With thousands of voice over credits to his name and a gift for enthralling storytelling, Josh has a particular passion for children's book narration, animation, and video games.
Josh hosts the podcast "Overthinking Everything", where he does just that - overthinks everything from deconstructing socio-economic-political ideas to television shows and their influence on our personalities as individuals and society as a whole. He hosts "Definitive: Hosted Playlists That Define" on Spotify Premium. With over 25 television and film credits, dozens of commercial credits, and countless voiceover and voice acting credits, Josh remains a working actor with his own business, Josh Brandon Media and spends his time influencing, raising awareness, and advocating for social, economic, and ideological progress on social media platforms.
Josh is an author of "My Journal Journeys", a series of 30-Day journal-writing exercises with specific personal, professional, or other self-help goals in mind. His debut release, released around Mother's Day 2021, was "30 Days to a Better Relationship with your Child". A credentialed expert in the field of Communication and Teaching, Josh combines academics, psychology, human development science, and life experience raising 4 daughters into a workbook designed to help a parent connect better with their child using techniques and methods that are child-centric and focused on the interests, needs, and communication style of the child. And, like every other writer, he has a fiction novel coming out - sometime...in the future...of course.
