Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens will get to see LCD Soundsystem several times later this year.

LCD Soundsystem is going to take it easy for a bit. On Monday, James Murphy shared a lengthy Facebook post detailing how the group is “reluctant” to get back into an album-tour-break cycle, and how, instead, they’ll opt to do some shows in New York once in a while. And perhaps drop a few singles here and there.
“We really wanted to stop living like that,” he wrote, referring to the non-stop tour cycle. “We talked about just playing some shows in New York, since most of us live here,...

Dean Martin is playing at their house, apparently. LCD Soundsystem has announced an imminent streaming special, “The LCD Soundsystem Holiday Special,” that will open with a ’90s-style-sitcom spoof, featuring actors portraying members of the band and their team, followed by a concert special, presumably featuring the real group. Produced by Amazon Music, it airs both on Prime Video and on Amazon Music’s Twitch channel Dec. 22 at 9 p.m. Et/6 Pt.
Musicians starring in their own arch/retro Christmas sitcoms is not a completely fresh wrinkle — see “The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show,” which premiered on Prime Video two years ago — but there’s certainly some novelty in one that has avatars for the ostensible stars in the form of recognizable actors. “All My Friends,” the sitcom-within-a-special, is named after a 2007 single of LCD Soundsystem’s and even has a TV-ized instrumental version of the song as its theme song.

Comedian Eric Wareheim reimagines LCD Soundsystem as the centerpiece of a classic sitcom in the trailer for the band’s upcoming holiday special, set to stream Dec. 22 at 9 p.m. Et on Prime Video and Amazon Music’s Twitch channel.
The LCD Soundsystem Holiday Special will boast a special, career-spanning performance from the actual band, including the first live rendition of their 2015 single, “Christmas Will Break Your Heart.” But the show will be preceded by a Nineties-style sitcom episode, aptly dubbed All My Friends (after LCD Soundsystem’s classic song...
