Jason Bernardo(I)
- Actor
- Producer
Jason Bernardo's Film and TV credits include a guest-star as iconic fashion designer Calvin Klein in the Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales playing across Murray Bartlett and Kumail Nanjani, both of which received Emmy Nominations for their work. Jason recently added two lead roles in independent feature films. For A Long Road to Tao, Jason lost 30 pounds to play a professional surfer dying during the AIDS epidemic of the late 80's. The film is based on a true story and is adapted from the book The Tao of Surfing written by Pulitzer Prize nominated author Michael A. Allen. In Murder and Cocktails, a quirky thriller inspired by the 30's classic The Thin Man, down-on-his-luck writer Nick McQuid and his wife Lana resolve to solve a murder by inviting all the suspects over for cocktails.
Jason was born in San Diego, CA and spent his early years on the beaches of La Jolla. His first job as a child was a lead role in a short film about a blind boy. His father, son of Italian immigrants, had been studying acting for decades and strongly encouraged Jason to pursue the craft. But when Jason was transplanted to the farm country of Medina, Ohio at 10 years old, he drifted away from the arts and passionately pursued athletics such as wrestling, football and martial arts. Jason had several careers as he made his way back to Southern California in his 20's, including a fine-dining sommelier, luxury realtor and a band manager; but he always felt like an artist without an art. Until one fateful day, Jason bumped into acting coach Guy Camilleri of RAW Acting Studio and was asked to audit an acting class. Jason recognized his calling in the first moments of that class and never looked back.
Jason is an avid surfer, a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a lover of horses and a longtime advocate of Transcendental Meditation.
