Melanie Vanderford was born in Atlanta Georgia with her twin sister and then raised in Marietta. From there, her parent's work took her to the Tampa Bay area. Her interest in film and acting started early on in elementary school. She participated in six years of musical theater and T.V. production classes and by her senior year in high school film had become a passion. That passion led her to college, where she pursued a degree in Cinema Studies.
Her acting career began on a whim. She was in the film program and had access to a vast network of casting calls. One caught her eye and she decided to pursue it. As fate would have it, she landed the role in her first student project and her desire to act was reignited. Her role in "Gone" as Tara is her most accessible project as "Apple" and "Phantom Body" are still in festival circuit. She has many hopes and aspirations for her acting career and has no intention of slowing down.
Her film making journey began through the university. Her original goal was to pursue a "behind the camera" career in the art department. She has worked on many student projects as a makeup artist, art director, and production designer. She plans to continue the pursuit of being on both sides of the camera as long as she can.
