Alphonso Settles began his career as a model in the Metro Detroit area; taking part in various local fashions shows, films, stage plays and events. While displaying his interest and love in the entertainment industry, Alphonso advanced on to be known primarily as a leading actor in film and television.
Settles was spotted at one of his local shows, and he was given the opportunity to prove his passion for acting. His first film was Ovid and the Art of Love, starring John Savage (Godfather III) and Corbin Bleu (High School Musical). Alphonso also appeared in First Lady (2018) starring Jim Jones (Paper Soldiers) and Nicole "Hoopz" Alexander (Ghetto Stories). Alphonso has also worked alongside Clifton Powell (Next Friday) and Rodney Perry (Johnson Family Vacation) as well as Jamal Woolard (Notorious). On television, Alphonso has had guest starring roles on Dark Lies, Half Blood, The Spot and Tale of Tails.
Alphonso has appeared in films, including lead roles in He Played Me and He Played Me 2. Settles has also appeared in several featuring films, including Deceitful Passions (2019), Dear Future Husband (2021), Get Paid (2022), Cut Throat (2022) and Rose Gold (2023). Along with the Cannes Indie International Film Festival award winning film Chasing the Ghost (2022).
Settles is known for "Detroit's Favorite Actor" from the Detroit Filmmaker Awards and "Detroit's Most Streamed Actor." Alphonso has been nominated twice for the Detroit Choice Awards in 2022 and 2023, as Best Lead Actor. Settles was heavily into playing basketball growing up, giving him an opportunity to play Semi-Pro basketball for years. Alphonso loves spending time with his child and working out in the gym.
