Empress ClawScream - Short Film Directed by Stephen T Lally - Trailer. Set in the early 1990s against a backdrop of riot-grrrl feminism and nerdy sci-fi fandoms, Empress ClawScream is a playful, whimsical, and surreal lesbian rom-com that is an ode to both young love and joyful Queer representation. Empress ClawScream began life as an extensive catalogue of concept artwork and photography by Stephen T Lally - which he created in order to establish the world within a world of its fictional cartoon series and characters. The project soon blossomed into a film concept. The Empress ClawScream short film was completed at the end of 2022 and was selected to Festival Formulas slate - where it began its film festival journey worldwide. So far, it has won BEST SCI-FI FILM at the Berlin Short Film Festival and BEST HAIR & MAKE-UP at the British Short Film Awards. It has screened at numerous international film festivals including the BIFA-qualifying Beeston Festival (where it was nominated for both BEST IN PRIDE and BEST IN FESTIVAL), the Academy Award-qualifying deadCenter, the British Council-listed Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, the Leeds Queer Film Festival, and QFest St Louis. https://empressclawscream.com/ https://www.instagram.com/empressclawscream/

Jessica Balmer was born June 1st 1998 in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. She is an actor best known for Nandor Fodor and the Talking Mongoose (2023), Riches (2022), Empress ClawScream (2023) and Venus Again (2023).

Jessica has also appeared in theatre shows such as National Youth Theatre's production of Lucy Kirkwood's Maryland directed by Masha Kevinova, Clouds with Time and Again Theatre Company and The Apology with Fundamentals Theatre Company.
