Danish/Spanish composer Patricio Fraile has made Copenhagen his artistic home. Blending classical, folk, and ambient elements, his music takes listeners on a heartfelt and poetic journey.
Patricio's education as a viola and clarinet player and his upbringing in the realm of symphonies have laid the groundwork for his imaginative arrangements. He and composer Emil Friis released their collaborative album The Expected Sounds of Minor Music in December 2023, leaving a mark on the post-classical scene through FatCat Records imprint 130701. The album was followed by the single and video Morning - For Two Pianos, out on Piano Day, March 28th. Music from the album and Morning - singles has been featured on several Apple Music Contemporary Classical Playlists, Danish classical radio DR P2 and BBC Classical.
In film, Patricio's work has resonated deeply with audiences. He has recently written the score for My Eternal Summer directed by Sylvia Le Fanu. Set to premiere at the 72nd San Sebastián International Film Festival and at London BFI Film Festival 2024. His music elevates the film's emotional depth, weaving a soundscape that mirrors the beauty and vulnerability of its story. This project showcases Patricio's ability to channel raw emotion into his compositions, making it one of his most heartfelt works. The soundtrack for the film will be released later this year.
Other notable film contributions include the score for documentary Taliban Land (2022), directed by Cavling Prize winner Nagieb Khaja and premiered at CPH DOX, as well as composing a lullaby for Norwegian film Handling the Undead directed by Thea Hvisdendahl, which premiered at Sundance 2024. His compositions have also been part of multi-award-winning short films like Amourteur (2021) and Abu Adnan, directed by Sylvia Le Fanu, as well as the Prix Europa - nominated documentary Helvedes Homo (2020), starring Abdel Aziz Mahmoud.
Patricio has also crafted captivating themes for global campaigns and commercials, collaborating with visionary directors including Espen Sandberg, Marc Reisbig, and Stefan Pflug. With film production houses like Bacon Productions, Motion Blur and Thirsty Film.
His ability to blend genres and evoke powerful feelings sets him apart, ensuring that his melodies resonate long after the final note.
