Anyone who’s read Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” knew the Netflix series was going to end with horror, vengeance and a dilapidating house symbolizing the ruin of a once-great family. But leave it to show creators Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy to turn a literary classic on its head.

While paying homage to the short story it’s named after, “The Fall of the House of Usher” managed to wrap up its complicated story of familial greed and failure while also sneaking in a couple of extra Poe Easter eggs. Consider this your guide on how this creepy miniseries ends.

The Fall of the House of Usher is filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s gloriously morbid remix of author Edgar Allen Poe’s best-known stories and poems, and it’s winning raves from critics (with a 92 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes). Even those totally unfamiliar with Poe probably found some glimmer of recognition amid the show’s nods to his best-known tales — such as “The Pit and the Pendulum,” “The Raven” and “The Cask of Amontillado” — given how Poe’s stories have threaded through pop culture over the last 175 years or so.

When I read that Mike Flanagan was planning to turn The Fall of the House of Usher into an eight-hour mini-series for Netflix I did a major double take. I’ve read the story, and I’ve seen an astounding number of takes on it, from Roger Corman’s classic to reimaginings like The Fall of Usher and Lady Usher. But there was no possible way I could see someone getting eight hours of material out of it.

Netflix has slated Thursday, October 12, for the premiere of The Fall of the House of Usher, its eight-episode limited series from Mike Flanagan based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The streamer also released some of the first images of the series, which you can see above and below.

Starring Bruce Greenwood, who replaced Frank Langella as the lead back in April 2022 after Langella was fired following a misconduct investigation, the series is described as an epic tale of greed, horror and tragedy. Poe’s short story The Fall of the House of Usher, which serves as the basis for the show, features themes of madness, family, isolation and identity.

It’s been a long road for the series, which was halfway through production when Langella was fired and his scenes had to be reshot.

With heartfelt horror master Mike Flanagan in charge, fans might finally get the adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" novels that they've been wanting for decades now. In December, news broke that Flanagan now has the rights to the books -- and King's blessing -- along with plans to make a TV show version of the long-running literary property. The Tremont hotel in Sulphur Springs is back and open for business, as “Secrets of Sulphur Springs” heads to Disney Channel and Disney+ screens for Season 3.

“No way we’re splitting up with an evil ghost on the loose,” says Wyatt Campbell (Landon Gordon) in the opening of the trailer.

Disney+ has debuted a new trailer for the animated ‘Star Wars’ special ‘Lego Star Wars Summer Vacation.’

Looking for a much-needed break from stormtroopers and Tie fighters, Finn arranges a surprise vacation for his friends Rey, Poe, Rose, Chewie, Bb-8, R2-D2, and C-3Po, aboard the ultra-luxurious Galactic Starcruiser, the Halcyon. But Finn’s plan to have one last hurrah together quickly goes awry when he’s separated from the group. While searching for his friends, he encounters three Force ghosts: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Leia Organa, who each share their own unexpected stories of vacations gone wrong, helping him to understand that holidays are about more than just having fun.

Summer is here, and the trailer for “Lego® Star Wars Summer Vacation” is about to heat things up! The all-new animated special from Lucasfilm and the Lego Group and the newest entry in the popular signature branded cross-saga storytelling series that began with “Lego Star Wars Holiday Special”and continued with “Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales,” will premiere August 5, 2022, exclusively on Disney+.

When Queen Sugar star Ethan Hutchison learned he was auditioning for one of his favorite series, Disney’s Channel’s Secrets of Sulphur Springs, he couldn’t stop smiling.

“When I tell you I loved the show before I even got the audition, I mean that,” an excited Hutchinson tells TVLine. “The show is so well done, I was just happy waiting on more episodes. I love the genre and the time travel. Fun fact: I was actually filming Queen Sugar when I got the audition.”

Harper’s family tree just got a lot fuller on Disney Channel’s Secrets of Sulphur Springs — all as Queen Sugar‘s Bordelons trimmed a tiny branch.

TVLine has learned that Queen Sugar‘s Ethan Hutchison is one of five new recurring actors in Season 2 of Disney’s high-stakes time travel series, which will arrive in January 2022 (on Disney+ and the Disney Channel). Hutchison will play Harper’s great-uncle Sam, while Eugene Byrd (Bones) will play the adult version of the character.

Exclusive: Diandra Lyle, who heavily recurred on Season 1 of Secrets of Sulphur Springs, has been promoted to series regular for the second season of Disney Channel’s time-travel mystery-adventure series. Production on season two will begin next month in Louisiana.
