The actor was released from prison in July 2020. In April of 2019, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was accused of drunk driving, driving without a license, and fleeing the scene where the incident took place. Senior judge Hong Ki gave the sentence to the actor after he pleaded guilty to the act of Additional Punishment Law on Specific Crimes, for fleeing the scene of an accident, as well as other additional charges.
