On Wednesday, world sales agency Beta Cinema hosts the market premiere of “John Cranko,” starring Sam Riley, at the American Film Market in Las Vegas. Variety speaks to the director Joachim A. Lang ahead of the screening and debuts the film’s international trailer (below).
The film, based on true events, follows in the footsteps of John Cranko as he arrives in Stuttgart in 1960 to be guest choreographer at the German city’s ballet company. A South African by birth, he had previously worked in London, but his tenure at the Sadler’s Wells Ballet had been jeopardized after he was prosecuted for committing a “homosexual act” in a public place, which at that time was outlawed in the U.K.

In der New-Adult-Serie „Crystal Wall“ (At), die derzeit in Berlin und Wien für das Zdf entsteht, rettet Mixed-Martial-Arts-Kämpferin Louna Lloris (Anna Bardavelidze) dem Millionenerben Nicolas Dardenne (Gustav Schmidt) das Leben und wird fortan als sein neuer Bodyguard engagiert. Die Dreharbeiten laufen noch bis in den November.

In a Disney earnings call on Tuesday evening, it was announced that ESPN had picked up a raft of sports broadcast and streaming rights in the U.S., including the next eight seasons of Spain’s top soccer competition Laliga.
With all matches to be made available live and on demand via ESPN Plus, several of the higher-profile games will also air across ESPN networks each season and be covered on established ESPN programs such as Sports Center and ESPN Fc, among others.
