Sedrick Cabrera

Chicano y chulo. Born & raised on the central coast of California in the farm working community of Watsonville. Sedrick Cabrera holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from San José State University, where he trained as a classical actor and graduated with honors including the "Teatro Award" for contributions towards diverse theatre.
Upon his graduation from SJSU, he completed a post-grad residency with the iconic Chicano theatre company El Teatro Campesino founded by Luis Valdez. Sedrick is currently based in San Francisco where he is building his career as an actor, writer, and visual storyteller. He has served as a creative consultant for YBCA. Collaborated theatrically with companies such as Cal Shakes, SFBATCO, Those Women Productions, SF Playground, & Marin Shakespeare Company. Taught at SF Day School, Ruth Asawa SF School of the Arts, & Mission Academy of the Performing Arts. Starred in a feature film opposite Winona Ryder. Played principal roles in commercials for brands such as McDonald's, Lincoln, Google, Apple, & Salesforce.
He's also had the opportunity to work with organizations in Los Angeles such as NALIP & Nosotros. He was awarded NALIP's "Emerging Content Creators Scholarship" for the Latino Media Fest 2020 and featured as a Top 12 Writer Finalist in the 2nd Annual Nosotros Ya Tu Sabes Monologue Slam, presented by NBC, for his original monologue "Brown Billboards" which centered around the themes of social media, digital identity, & assimilation.
Sedrick's work is dedicated to revealing how Brown Chicano communities bring style, sustenance, & poetry to the culture of California. In his writing, he hopes to bring Latino identities out of the background and re-frame them as compelling characters that are central to the states' beauty. Always striving to find a balance between his classical training and nuance-filled upbringing for the most authentic stories possible.
