Deion Higginbotham is a Black American storyteller born and raised in Oakland CA, who exploits his craft through Writing, and Acting. Cultivated in a household where the performing arts have dominated generations down the line, he began his journey at the early age of 12 as a brass writer of Poetry and short stories.
Deion attended school at Academy of Art in University where he learn to find his voice and hone his craft. As a natural creative, it was a matter of time before Deion found his true love and decided to take the next step in his career. Which was starting his own production company and filming the scripts he wrote.
Migrating from Oakland CA to Las Vegas, Deion hit the ground running as a full-time Screenwriter. Navigating his way as a self-taught Filmmaker and Networking, Deion studied diligently from various resources such as books, blogs, podcasts, newspapers, digital articles, and documentaries. Soon after in 2019, Deion became a Semi-finalist in his first screenwriting competition. In 2022 Deion won The Warner Brothers x ABFF Screenwriting initiative competition at the American Black Film Festival.
In addition to being behind the scenes, Deion also enjoys being in front of the camera. He has completed several short films, as well as appeared on networks such as Amazon and Discovery ID.
With a distinct style of vintage storytelling combined with modern cinema, Deion plans to write and make films he has yet to see on screen. Ultimately designing his content through explicit dreams, imagination, and a lively childhood, Deion solemn goal is to bear witness and share stories that reflect today, honor the past, and re-imagine the future. He wants to learn how to direct and eventually be able to direct his own features, and Tv Series.
Deion is known for the coming-of-age fantasy, Black Romantic dramas and for his acting GamerBoy (2021), that was a finalist in the Toronto international film festival.
