New Sequels, Prequels, and Spin-Offs

Lamar Richardson is a 2x Tony Award®-winning producer and award-winning actor with over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry. He was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina as the son of Antiguan parents. He received his B.A. from Columbia University in 2015. In 2016, Richardson made his regional theater debut as Sylvester in Phylicia Rashad's production of August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at the Mark Taper Forum. Most recently, he has appeared on screen in CBS' Blue Bloods, FBI, NBC's New Amsterdam, Charlie Sanders and Jordan Peele's Weird City, and James Sweeney's Straight Up. He will be seen next in Amazon's The Better Sister and Richard Lawson's Black Terror, which is co-produced with Tina Knowles-Lawson. On Broadway, Richardson made his debut as a Co-Producer of the Fall 2022 revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman starring Wendell Pierce, Sharon D. Clarke, and Andre de Shields. In 2024, he made history as the youngest Black producer to win two Tony Awards® in one night for his work as a Co-Producer on Merrily We Roll Along (Best Revival of a Musical) and Appropriate (Best Revival of a Play). Other Broadway producing credits include New York, New York and The Wiz. He made his film producing debut as a Co-Producer of Bleecker Street's upcoming comedy, The Fabulous Four. In March 2023, Richardson produced and starred in a staged reading of Afrika Brown's The Fight as a part of The Apollo Salon Series. He is the CEO of Ivy Lion Productions and was also the recipient of Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey's 2022 Front Row Productions Fellowship at Columbia University. Richardson is a member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors' Equity Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He credits Phylicia Rashad with starting his career.
