Apple TV’s Messi Documentary Series Gets Trailer

Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for its highly anticipated documentary event “Messi's World Cup: The Rise of a Legend.” The four-part series will track the career of international superstar and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi throughout his record-setting, multi-decade career with the Argentina national football team up through their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 win.

Through personal interviews with Messi and conversations with his teammates, coaches, competitors, devout fans, and commentators, the docuseries explores the ups and downs of the champion’s tenure thus far, including his early retirement in 2016 and his comeback in 2022 as the FIFA World Cup’s best player.

Max has cancelled Rap Sh!t after two seasons. The second season finale of the comedy series was released on the streaming service last month. A total of 16 episodes were produced during the show's run.

Max has opted not to proceed with a third season of Issa Rae’s comedy series Rap Sh!t. The decision comes a month after the show’s Season 2 finale dropped on the streamer.

The second season of Rap Sh!t, originally scheduled for an August 10 debut, was pushed to November because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes with the hope of giving it a better shot by having the creative team and cast promote it.

Max, along with other streamers, has been trimming its lineup of originals. Rap Sh!t‘s cancellation leaves five returning comedy series on the platform: Hacks, And Just Like That…, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Peacemaker and the recently renewed Bookie.

The second season of the Max comedy series “Rap Sh!t” will be its last.

Created by Issa Rae, who also executive produced alongside showrunner Syreeta Singleton, “Rap Sh!t” charted the ascent of Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), estranged high school friends from Miami who reunite to form a rap duo and try to make it big in the music business. The dramedy also starred Jonica Booth (Chastity), Rj Cyler (Lamont) and Daniel Augustin (Maurice).

The Warner Bros. Discovery-backed streamer has canceled Rap Sh!t, the scripted comedy series created by Issa Rae and starring Aida Osman after a two-season run.

“We are extremely grateful to Issa Rae for creating Rap Sh!t, a one-of-a-kind comedy with compelling social commentary that reached viewers in a way only Issa’s talents can accomplish,” a Max spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “A huge thank you to Issa, showrunner Syreeta Singleton and the teams at Hoorae and 3 Arts Entertainment for introducing us to Shawna and Mia, a duo whose journey fans have been invested in and who they have continued to root for through everything. We’ll never get Seduce and Scheme out of our heads and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Osman starred as Shawna Clark, a struggling rapper who works at a hotel.

After the writers’ and actors’ strikes delayed the premiere of Season 2, Issa Rae’s “Rap Sh!t” is back on Max beginning this week for an eight-episode second season. With the unfortunate cancellation of How I Met Your Father after only two seasons, we’ve not only had to say goodbye to one of the few streaming comedies that feels like a true sitcom, but now we’ll likely never know who the titular father actually is. The series’ predecessor How I Met Your Mother took eight seasons to finally reveal the identity of the mother, and while it’s hard to believe that Himyf would have lasted that long anyway in the streaming era, it’s still sad that we won’t have the chance to see Sophie (Hilary Duff) find love the way Ted (Josh Radnor) did.

Hulu has canceled “How I Met Your Father” starring Hilary Duff, after two seasons, TheWrap has learned.

At the end of the second and now final season, Duff’s character revealed who the father of her child was. The finale landed July 11.

Kim Cattrall, who recently reunited with her “Sex and the City” castmates in a cameo during the Season 2 finale of “And Just Like That,” “How I Met Your Father” narrates the spin-off series as the 58-year-old version of Sophie, portrayed in the flashback plot by Duff. Sophie tells her son how she met his father, taking viewers all the way back to the beginning with her younger self navigating love, life and becoming alongside her friend group.

“How I Met Your Father” has been canceled after two seasons at Hulu, Variety has confirmed.

The Hilary Duff-led “How I Met Your Mother” spinoff concluded its second (and now final) season July 11 without revealing who Duff’s character, Sophie, ended up having a child with. The show debuted in January 2022 and aired 30 episodes overall.

Here’s the comedy’s synopsis: “In the near future, Sophie (Duff) is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

“Rap Sh!t” season 2 — which was set to return in one week from now, on August 10 — has been pushed back due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The move comes as a result of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. As the labor unions representing writers and actors continue to protest for a new deal with the major studios, actors are completely barred from promoting projects from struck companies, while writers carry out limited press opportunities. The new November premiere date of “Rap Sh!t” signals a hope on the studio’s part, in this case Warner Bros. Discovery, that labor conflicts will be resolved by then and that talent will be able help generate buzz.

Max is pushing back the second season of its comedy Rap Sh!t by three months in the latest strike-related scheduling move.

The series, which stars Aida Osman and KaMillion as estranged high school friends who form a rap duo, had been slated to premiere on Aug. 10. Max has moved the date back to Nov. 9.

The change serves two purposes for the Warner Bros. Josh Peck has no idea if he's the father on "How I Met Your Father" - and even if he did, he wouldn't say. "If I did know and I leaked it, literally, guys in suits would descend and cart me off in some sort of van," he tells Popsugar. Despite not knowing how it all ends, Peck knows what he wants to happen. "I sure do hope," he says when asked if he'd like to be the father of Hilary Duff's son on the show.

In the "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff, Peck plays Drew, a vice principal at an elementary school where Chris (Jesse Lowell) works. Drew dates Duff's character Sophie throughout the first season, making him - along with Ian (Daniel Augustin), Jesse, Sid (Suraj Sharma), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), and even Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) - into a top contender for the father of Sophie's son.

Neil Patrick Harris is set to reprise his star-making role of Barney Stinson on the upcoming mid-season finale of the Hulu original spinoff series “How I Met Your Father.”

Harris was a main cast member and a fan favorite on the original CBS comedy series “How I Met Your Mother,” which ran for nine seasons after debuting in 2005. Harris earned four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series over the course of his tenure with the show, in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Harris will appear in next week’s two-episode mid-season finale of “How I Met Your Father,” which debuts on Hulu on March 28. After the duo of installments, the series will take a hiatus for a few weeks before continuing its 20-episode second season on May 23.

Hulu’s “How I Met Your Father” will make its linear TV debut on Freeform in April with two back-to-back episodes dropping weekly, the network confirmed to TheWrap.

The comedy series, which is currently releasing its 20-episode sophomore season on Hulu, will get a linear run for its first season on Freeform, beginning Tuesday, April 25, when the network will air the first two episodes of the series, “Pilot” and “Fomo,” back-to-back at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Following the April 25 launch, the Hilary Duff-led series will continue to air two subsequent episodes weekly on Tuesdays, eventually reaching the Season 1 finale, titled “Timing Is Everything,” on May 23.

Hulu, meanwhile, will continue to release weekly episodes for Season 2, which premiered Jan. 24.

The linear run marks the first time the sitcom will appear off of Hulu, and it’s unknown if the network will take a similar approach to “How I Met Your Father...

“How I Met Your Father” kicks off new episodes in just a few weeks, and only Et exclusively debuts the season 2 trailer!

The minute-long trailer opens with Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her friend, Valentina (Francia Raisa), as they lament entering their 30s and how much of a “trainwreck” their lives still are. They’re all still trying to find “the love of [their] lives,” but as Sophie shares, “the world is not that simple anymore” as the friends continue to go through the highs and lows of trying to date in the modern age.

In one scene from the trailer, Ellen (Tien Tran) comments about how Sophie is dating “an older guy” as she and the others have a laugh about it at the bar — not knowing that Sophie’s new man (played by “Sex and the City’s” John Corbett) is actually there too. Awkward!

And things certainly aren’t...

Hilary Duff‘s “How I Met Your Father” has a premiere date for season 2.

The Hulu series will kick off the new season on Tuesday, Jan. 24 with one episode, the streaming service announced Tuesday, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly.

Duff also broke the news in a video announcement posted on the “How I Met Your Father” social accounts, where she excitedly shared the premiere date for the new season.

Rap Sh!t‘s time spent in renewal limbo was short: HBO Max has picked up the comedy for Season 2, less than two weeks after its Sept. 1 freshman finale dropped.
