- Alex Kahuam is an award-winning director, writer and producer who has showcased his films at The Cannes Film Festival (A-list), Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (A-list), SITGES International Film Festival (A-list), FICG-Guadalajara International Film Festival, FrightFest, Morbido and BIFFF, among other prestigious festivals.
He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed film Failure!, starring Ted Raimi. It was shot entirely in a single take (87 minutes), making him the first Mexican director in the history of cinema to accomplish a feature film with no cuts in the United States and one of the few directors globally to have successfully achieved this.
Failure! was selected in a new genre showcase section at the Marche du Film-Cannes Film Festival 2023 called Fantastic Pavilion Galas. The film gained a lot of momentum after bowing at the inaugural Galas, becoming one of the most viewed headlines in Variety's Twitter feed with 109,000 views during the festival. The film premiered at FrightFest London, followed by Tallinn Black Nights, Morbido Fest and Fantaspoa where rave reviews praised its direction, screenplay, the performance of Ted Raimi and the cinematography. The film has been acquired by Red Water Entertainment and it will have a limited theatrical release in North America in Q1 of 2025.
Other notable works he has are his third feature film Forgiveness (FrightFest World Premiere + 21 more selections), which had world-wide distribution in 50 territories theatrically and/or on VOD and the short film Red Light (Sitges World Premiere + 70 more selections), starring horror icon Ted Raimi.
