Jonathan Wessel was born in Oak Forest, IL. He grew up immersed in classical music and begin studying the cello at age 4. It wasn't long after that he developed an interest in acting, and by age 9 he was performing in church programs. It wasn't until age 14 that he began to get heavily involved in theater, performing in numerous play productions through high school. After high school, Jonathan began acting in community theater, playing such characters as Borden Eisler (Plaza Suite), Christopher Wren (The Mousetrap), Peter van Daan (The Diary of Anne Frank), John Barsad (A Tale of Two Cities: The Musical), and A Christmas Carol (Young Scrooge). Jonathan was nominated for best performer in two shows on BroadwayWorld.com (A Tale of Two Cities: The Musical and The Diary of Anne Frank).
Jonathan's true passion lies in film acting, and began auditioning for movies in 2014. He began to land leading roles in student films for DePaul University, Columbia College Chicago and Flashpoint Chicago (formerly Tribeca Flashpoint Academy). In 2016, Jonathan booked his first independent short film (Happy Together) and indie feature (The Over-Mountain Men: The Price of Freedom) and has since worked on a dozen films, several of which are scheduled to be released in 2020. Jonathan is a series regular on the new media project Knight's End, which is an 11th century historical drama/fantasy series and is slated to return to shoot The Over-Mountain Men 3, reprising his role as Peterson.
Jonathan studied acting at Acting Studio Chicago and Green Shirt Studio where he focused on the Meisner Method.
