Evelina Barsegian is a director, screenwriter, and producer. She was a finalist in the Manhattan Short Film Festival 2016, where her third short feature film Bravoman had its global release, going on to win first place in Russia in an audience poll, and be longlisted for an Oscar. Evelina has also been a finalist in the 13th and 15th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival, the 42nd Badalona Short Film Festival, and the 45th and 46th Festival of Nations, as well as the well-known Russian festival Koroche, the International Film Festival Kyrgyzstan - Land of Short Films, and other prestigious festivals. Winner of a Pitch Competition held by the Youth Center of the St. Petersburg Union of Cinematographers and the Lenfilm studio for the screenplay of her film On the road (2018). Finalist in a Pitch Competition for British television for her screenplays Baby and Bravoman (placing in the top five entries) organized at the 68th and 69th Cannes Film Festivals.
Evelina was born in the town of Sevan in Armenia and grew up in Russia. She is a graduate of the Philology Faculty of Omsk State University (Russia), and director Alexander Sokurov's Cinema Laboratory in St. Petersburg (2011, 2014).
From 2010 to 2012 she worked as a screenwriter on the television programme A Guilty Verdict (100 TV, St. Petersburg).
During her time working as a journalist in St. Petersburg, Evelina was twice a finalist in the Golden Pen competition (nominated for Best Upcoming Talent and Best Report). She won an award in the national Truth and Justice competition in 2015, for her series of pieces on corruption.
Evelina made her cinematic debut in 2014 with her short film Somebody Loves You (Armenia). As of 2018 she has made four short feature films, all of which have reached the finals of international competitions. The rights to these films have been acquired by the television channels Eurochannel and Shorts HD.
Also Evelina is the finalist of the ATCP with her project Legend of Lilith (Turkey,2017). And she is finalist of the Creative Europe Forum where she was finalist of the Pitch Competition during the 14th Colden Apricot Film Festival.
