Jason Koenig was born and grew up in Washington State. He started in photography in 2002. He then began his career in film in 2009 creating music videos as director, cinematographer, and editor, often collaborating with his friends Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
In 2013, he co-directed "Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: Can't Hold Us" music video which was nominated for four MTV Music Video Awards - Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Editor and was awarded Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Cinematography.
2014, for "Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: Can't Hold Us" Jason was nominated as a director for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video.
2015 Jason won "Video of the Year" at the MTV EMA's for directing the "Downtown" music video with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis
2016 he directed the "Shape of You" music video for Ed Sheeran which has surpassed 5 Billion YouTube views becoming the second most viewed video of all time.
2017 Shape of You received nominations for Best Pop video at the MTV VMA's, Video of the Year at the American Music awards and won The Cannes NRJ award for video of the year and the MTV Japan video award for Best International Pop Video.
2018 he Received MTV VMA Nominations for Best Director and Best Pop Video, for Ed Sheeran's "Perfect"
2020 Camerimage international film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, Nomination for Best Music Video and Best Cinematography in a music video for "South of the Border" by Ed Sheeran, featuring Cardi B, and Camila Cabello
2020 Jason and his wife Jenny Koenig created, produced and directed the "All In Washington Concert for Covid-19 Relief" with Anonymous Content, which raised 57 million dollars for food banks and Charitable organizations across the State providing Covid relief to there communities.
