Ryan LaPlante is a multiple award-winning Screenwriter who dabbles in acting and directing. His produced work has received 47 festival selections, 32 awards (including 8 "Best Feature" and 3 "Audience Choice" awards) and an additional 39 award nominations. His debut feature, "Holy Hell", is being distributed internationally by Indican Pictures, the distributors of "The Boondock Saints" and "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead."
Ryan's un-produced screenplays have been selected at festivals 32 times, winning 12 awards (including 3 "Best Unproduced Screenplay" awards). He has worked in, and loves, a variety of genres: horror, action, comedy, science fiction, fantasy, drama, children's films, and based-on-a-true-story dramas.
In addition to his work as a screenwriter, Ryan has also worked alongside top industry professionals in casting, producing and production management. His varied experiences enable him to give advice on all aspects relevant to production, including budgeting, location, insurance issues, casting, etc.
Ryan is a graduate of Queen's University and the Second City Training Centre's Improv Conservatory. In other words, he's an incredibly well-read comedian. His non-institutional training includes musical theatre, opera, classical acting, improv, sketch comedy, and voiceover. Ryan is a team player who brings a sense of humor and fun to the creative process no matter how dark the material.
