Jim Robison is an AACTA-nominated producer and the driving force behind Lunar Pictures, an emerging powerhouse in the film industry. Jim initially studied Finance at Newcastle University before dedicating four years to the Australian Army. He then transitioned to a Chartered Accounting Firm, followed by a pivotal role in the finance department at Universal Music, Australia's largest record company.
Since stepping away from the corporate world, Jim has honed his craft in a diverse range of below the line and above the line roles, working in multiple departments on Studio Films. Jim now is mainly focused on producing, executive producing, directing and writing. He has successfully produced and executive produced feature films, network TV series, music videos, TV commercials, and corporate videos, with budgets ranging from $500K to $25 Million. An expert at securing private and debt equity, Jim has been instrumental in raising finance for film and TV projects with cumulative budgets exceeding $80 Million.
In 2024 Jim is producing the feature film Switzerland, starring the legendary Helen Mirren and Alden Ehrenreich, directed by Anton Corbijn. This project is based on the award-winning play by Joanna Murray Smith, with FilmNation and CAA Media Finance handling sales and financing.
Projects under Jim's banner have graced over 40 film festivals across nearly 20 countries, including Australia, the USA, China, Poland, Norway, Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, South Korea, France, Spain, and Germany. His films have garnered numerous accolades, including the FIPRESCI Jury Prize in 2020 in Germany, and nominations at prestigious events like the Zurich Film Festival, SITGES, Busan, CinefestOz, and the Adelaide Film Festival.
From 2020 to 2023, Jim led the development arm of Mystery Clock Cinema, founded by acclaimed director Alex Proyas. Mystery Clock Cinema had made studio films that collectively achieved global box office returns of over $300 million, collaborating with industry giants such as Lionsgate, Summit, New Line Cinema, Searchlight Pictures, and 20th Century Fox. Notably, Jim developed a new sci-fi film Heaven and secured a theatrical distribution deal with ICON Films for Australia and New Zealand.
Jim's projects have attracted attention from major U.S. distributors, including Saban, Vertical Entertainment, and Cinedigm Entertainment Group, as well as Australian streaming platforms such as Netflix, Stan, Binge/Foxtel, Paramount+, and Amazon, alongside networks like Channel Nine and Network Seven.
I'm is the lead producer on The Room Below, featuring Golden Globe winner and multiple Primetime Emmy nominee Jonathan Rhys Meyers, along with Alyssa Sutherland and Gilbert Bradman. He is also a producer of HONOUR, based on the internationally acclaimed play that had its first reading in 1995 in New York, featuring Meryl Streep reading for the lead role, with subsequent productions showcasing talents like Laura Linney, Diana Rigg, and Eileen Atkins.
