We return with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting the recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes a trailer for The Devil’s Hand and Motivational Growth, screening details from Cub, the short film lineup from Screamfest, first details on The Nightmare, and more:

The Devil’s Hand Trailer and Release Date Announced: “When six girls are born on the sixth day of the sixth month to different mothers in the small, devout village of New Bethlehem an ancient prophecy is set in motion — on their 18th birthday one of the girls will become the Devil’s Hand. As the day approaches and one by one the young women begin to disappear, terror overtakes the quiet community and those remaining girls band together to uncover who or what is behind these treacherous acts.

The 14th annual Screamfest La film festival kicks off on October 14th, and they've now announced their "Shorts to Die For" lineup of 40 short films from all across the globe. Read on for the details!

Screamfest 2014 takes place in Los Angeles on October 14-23 at the Tcl Chinese 6 Theatres, 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028.

To mix things up for its 15th annual edition, the TromaDance film festival has moved! (Yet again.) This year, the grotesque festivities will take place on June 27-28 at The Paper Box art space in Brooklyn, NY and will include loads of short films and four features.

The features are: Drew Bolduc‘s hotly anticipated Science Team, the follow-up to his masterful exercise in offensiveness, The Taint; the acclaimed penile documentary The Final Member by Jonah Bekhor and Zach Math; Olivier Beguin’s new twist on vampirism, Chimeres; and the fighting cannibal action of Evil Feed by Ray Smith.

The short films include international offensiveness and gore from such far-flung places as Italy, Belgium, Estonia, Australia and, of course, the good ol’ U.S. of A.

The 6th annual Arizona Underground Film Festival might be beginning on the unluckiest day of the year — Friday the 13th — but the residents of Tucson are lucky for this 9-night extravaganza of wild and wooly cinema from all over the globe. The fest runs Sept. 13-21 at The Screening Room and other locations.

Opening Night films include the retro, music-fueled slasher flick Discopath by Renaud Gauthier and the Internet-based bloodbath Truth Or Dare, directed by scream queen Jessica Cameron making her filmmaking debut. The last film of the fest on the 21st is the cryptic post-apocalyptic thriller Dust of War, directed by Andrew Kightlinger.

The rest of the fest includes mind-bending fiction flicks like the cult-ish Fateful Findings by Neil Breen; the 90-minute, one-shot noir Worm by Andrew Bowser; Zach Clark’s twisted holiday movie White Reindeer; Drew Tobia’s surreal See You Next Tuesday; as well as challenging documentaries...
