Margo E. Sawaya is of Lebanese and Italian descent. She was born the third of four children and the only girl in a passionate family of loud talkers in Lansing, Michigan. So loud in fact, that she often retreated to her room to write in solitude as a child, which is where her love for storytelling came to life.
At the age of 18, she won the Young Playwrights Festival through Michigan State University's theatre department. After seeing her play on stage and feeling the impact her words had on the audience, she dedicated her studies to screenwriting and directing, later earning her MFA from USC School of Cinematic Arts. She believes that storytelling is the best way to build common ground amongst people.
She now resides in Los Angeles and tells stories all the time. The stories she chooses to tell often focus on the human condition and socio-economic disparity. While she still retreats to her room to write in solitude often, she has become quite the loud talker herself.
