- Production Manager
Ryan Binse is an independent producer based in Los Angeles, California. Born and raised in Houston, Texas. Ryan made his way to California by way of the United States Navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program where he was stationed in San Diego. His time deployed to various locations around the world allowed him to engage in the sharing of various stories with locals outside of tourist areas. It wasn't too long before an international commonality became very apparent.
"At least 90% of the conversations I had were in dive bars with random locals who all said the same thing... My son's not working hard enough. My daughter's dating an [person I don't like]. That last episode of Breaking Bad was amazing!..... I realized we are all the same, and if I want to leave this world better than when I came into it, film and television is where I'll have the power to do it."
With this new found perspective combined with his religious exercises in writing, Ryan discovered his love and drive for visual storytelling. After eleven years of service, he was honorably discharged, walking away with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Excelsior College and a Certificate in Producing from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Less than a year later, he left for Los Angeles to attend the Producing program at the American Film Institute Conservatory. There, he focused on creative production while interning in prestige development departments within the industry such as HBO. Upon graduating AFI, Ryan was already filling the shoes of a temporary assistant to producer, Joel Silver (Die Hard, The Matrix), while simultaneously delivering his graduate thesis film, A Rodeo Film. His thesis film planted the seed for all of the students involved (Team Rodeo) as it went on to win the DGA Grand Prize for an African American directed film, the Golden Tadpole at Camerimagé 2020 for its cinematography, and was sold to HBO (now available on Max and HBO until March 2024).
Since then, Ryan has worked in various roles of production and producing: Line Producer of "The Wedding Pact 2 (The Baby Pact)" starring Haylie Duff, produced "Project: MKHEXE" (repped by XYZ), and is working with Darius Dawson and Peter Farrelly on the development of the feature version of "A Rodeo Film" (CAA rep). His next feature, "In Your Head," scored an 83 on Slated's coverage assessment, one of the highest scores in the company's history.
Ryan is currently a freelance line producer, production manager, and assistant director represented by GSK Talent while developing various other features and episodic series as producer.
