Janis Valdez

Janis Valdez was raised in Long Beach, California. From the age of 6, she grew up doing musical theater, starring in shows such as Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, Jane Eyre and Beauty and the Beast. When she was 16, Janis originated the role of Dana, in the debut of Camp Rock: The Musical. Soon after, she realized performing on screen was her next venture. Janis then went on to Barbizon, a school for acting and modeling. After graduating, she went to the IMTA convention, where she won first place in every acting and modeling category she performed in. From there, Janis started to audition for TV, film, and commercials. She's had much success in this industry, booking co-stars on shows like Suburgatory and Faking It. Then graduating to guest stars on shows like Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Criminal Minds. She has been up for many roles in her field, getting pinned for shows like Good Trouble, and testing for Veronica in Riverdale. Ultimately In 2017, Janis booked her first recurring role on the Freeform show, Famous in Love, opposite Keith Powers. In 2023, Janis was accepted into Hillman Grad. A prestigious mentorship created by Emmy award winner, Lena Waithe. Suspended due to the WGA and SAG strikes, the mentorship will move forward in 2024, guiding her career and connecting Janis to the next generation of writers and executives. When not acting, Janis spends her time singing and taking dance classes. She is passionate about her craft and bringing more inclusivity to the screen.
